BODY: I hope there aren’t too many like these

A

s I told you before I’m also posting at The Command Post. Yesterday I posted a the story about 2 Israeli journalists detained by U.S. troops in Iraq. They came in to Iraq individually not with the US army and say they were caught by US soldiers who imprisoned them for 2 days and even beat them up.

When I posted the link the story was already all over the Israeli media. I turned to Ha’aretz English edition to find the story in English and so I did. I was amazed by the idiotic comments people left regarding this post:

Chris Lawrence: “Haaretz ought to be ashamed of running a piece with serious allegations like that without even the ass-covering of stating that "Centcom officials declined comment."

R. McLeod: “Consider the source...

Vince: “Ha’aretz is known to be leftist. It's about as balanced as Reuters.

aelfheld: “Pardon me, Israeli journalists in Iraq? Exactly how stupid do the people at Ha'aretz think we are?

I simply couldn’t believe it. Those people “trashed” the story because it didn’t support the official US army line. Some commentators had legitimate questions but they didn’t dismissed the story as a total lie. As for the referrals to Ha’aretz, I intend to write about in a different post soon.

At least I’m not the only one left amazed: Ribbity Frog writes: “ What is interesting is that when this report was posted on the war-blog site The Command Post, by Israeli blogger Gil Shterzer, it was treated with nothing short of derision by the war-supporters, who automatically assumed that any critique of the US forces was enemy propaganda, and must be false. Shterzer has rightly defended the integrity of both Scemama and the news services carrying the story.” Continue reading his post, archives don’t work, title is: TOP STORY IN ISRAEL)

The bottom line here is: don’t immediately “trash” things that you don’t want to believe it’s true. Question things but don’t rebut it just because you didn’t like the report.

BODY: Invest in my blog

D

id you know there is a stock market for weblogs? Well there is and it's called BlogShares (found it through a small victory).

What is it? - BlogShares is a fantasy stock market for weblogs. Players get to invest a fictional $500, and blogs are valued by inbound links. Blog owners get 1000 shares of their own blog for free.

Anyway I've joined and my blog is listed. Buy my shares it's bound to go up, I'm sure of that. Currently the value of my blog is $2900.32, an outgoing link is worth $1000.11.

Listed on BlogShares

BODY: Where did those liars go?

W

here are all those fools/liars that warned the world only a couple of weeks ago that Israel will try to deport the Palestinians to Jordan or try to kill as many of them indiscriminately, or go into Gaza Strip for a massive attack against the Palestinians. Obviously non of the above story tales is actually happening.

Where are they?

A small portion are fools who live in a fantasy and don’t know jack shit about Israel so they honestly thought Israel is about to deport all the Palestinians to Jordan. But most of those false premonitory knew there is no chance that Israel would do such a thing but yet decided it’s a good opportunity to slander Israel.

This allows one to understand that many of the super critical on Israel groups are simply lying most of the time or distorting the truth beyond recognition.

Actually I know where those liars are. They are shouting against the War in Iraq because it’s all about the oil!

BODY: Reserve service update

I

want to thank all of you who wished me good luck. Again, there is no need to worry, as Haggai said I'm not parachuting into Baghdad. I'm basically waiting for the alert system to detect that a missile was launched towards Israel. Till that happens I'm not doing much. I'm doing shifts for the next week (hopefully less) so half of the time I'll be at home. So again there is really nothing to worry about.

BODY: Time to get the uniform out of the closet

I

got a call up from the army today. Tomorrow noon I’m going to put on my army uniform and report in my unit for a reserve duty. This one day in advance call is backed by “Tzav 8” – an emergency order that allows the army to call you on such a short notice.

I was called because of the (still) high alert here in Israel for an Iraqi missile attack, I’ll do some function related to that. Nothing to worry about, I’ll probably be somewhere near Tel Aviv and my guess is that I’ll be released in a few days.

A short hiatus in posting is expected, though if I’ll have a chance I’ll try to post earlier.

BODY: More on the POWs

A

s I understand the US tv networks aren’t showing (yet) the Iraqi tv footage of the miserable US captured soldiers. They looked terrified in that video and who can blame them, I’d be scared shit if I where in their position. Here is a photo of them (for thos who hadn't seen it yet)

Rumsfield already protested that showing their pictures is a violation of the Geneva Convention. The Iraqi won’t follow that convention. I recommend on reading Bravo Two Zero by Andy McNab on a British Special Forces team who were captured by the Iraqis in 1991 Gulf War.

McNab describes awful tortures but says he wasn’t raped, I only hope this time the POWs will also escape from such degrading torture.

BODY: Americans troops captured

T

hrough Israeli channel 2: Al Jazeera video shows 5 soldiers, man 31 y/o from New Jersey, woman 30, from Texas and another man from Texas. 2 are from 507 maintenance unit. The captured soldiers gave their names, age, state, army number and unit.

They looked really scared it was terrible watching it, as we are too familiar with kidnapped soldiers here in Israel. The Iraqis probably won’t trade them for Iraqi soldiers captured by the US. They’ll probably use them human shields in Baghdad.
