BODY: CNN

Some of you probably heard about this story, but I'm sure many didn't. So here is the story of CNN disgusting behavior towards Chen Keinan whose mother and baby daughter were murdered in the Petah Tikva suicide bombing.

I got this via e-mail, it was written by relative of Chen keinan:

"On May 27th, 2002 a suicide bomber from Yasser Arafat's organization blew himself up near my 14 months old niece's cart, murdering the little baby SINAI KEINAN and her grandmother RUTHI PELED. My brother and sister in law LIOR and CHEN KEINAN were injured.

As you will shortly see, the CNN perfected its ability to report only one side of the story (the EVIL side), thereby supporting only that side's cause and SHOWING THE WORLD HOW BIASED THE CNN IS.

Friday May 31st), the mourning parents made an indescribable effort to come and give two separate interviews:

The first, a live interview for CNN USA (Friday, 4 PM Israel time) - in which they expressed their pain and anguish, thanked the American people for their support and pleaded with the viewers to continue and support Israel in its fight against terror.

The second, a taped interview for CNN International (that unlike CNN USA can be viewed in Europe and Israel through cable) - in which the mourning parents expressed a small part of their strong feelings about Europe's unbelievable continuous support and "understanding" of the Palestinian's cause and the brutal, immoral and murderous ways they use to achieve the same.

We were told the interview was to be aired that day 6PM Israel time. That Friday, 8 PM Israel time, CNN INTERNATIONAL FINALLY APPROACHED THE ISSUE BY SHOWING A LONG INTERVIEW WITH THE SUICIDE BOMBER'S MOTHER WHO "EXPLAINED" WHY HE DID WHAT HE DID (the family's boutique was damaged and a relative was killed in battle(!!!)) !!! WITHOUT AIRING OR EVEN MENTIONING THE INTERVIEW WITH THE YOUNG COUPLE. The same repeated itself numerous times that evening and the day after.

Only the day after, after editing the American connotation of the live interview to the USA (which of course had an effect on the young couple's choice of words) CNN International cynically aired some short unrelated parts of that interview including the mentioned plea for continuing the support, plus a few seconds of the taped interview (out of a 20 minute interview).

All in all, CNN allocated no less then 16.20 minutes to the murderer's family as opposed to 5.35 minutes to the Keinan/Israeli side. The interview with the murderer's mother was aired 5 times (mostly during prime time) as opposed to the US interview with the young couple which was aired twice (non on prime time).

After being approached by a few government offices, the CNN now bothered to acknowledge "a mistake" and air some additional parts of the interviews, which of course now brings us nowhere.

Putting aside all PR issues, one can only begin to imagine what all this did to the mourning families.

I believe knowing the above will suffice in helping the reader do like I did and DECIDE TO NEVER AGAIN WATCH CNN.

I also believe CNN MUST BE FORCED TO ADMIT WHAT THEY DID, PUBLICLY AND DURING PRIME TIME.

Amit Keinan
"

Here is one small part of the interview they didn't show.

BODY: An answer to a reader

I got this e-mail from one of my concerned readers:

"I just don't understand the mentality of Israel. More then five hundred have been killed by Palestinian terrorist and the yet Israel still doesn't feel that it has the moral right to self defense, and doesn't go into the territories and smash the terrorists completely.Despite the advice of both Shaul Mofaz and Avi Dechter,Sharon persists with constant dashing in and out of cities despite the fact that this method has proven to be a total failure. The government is playing games with life of its citizens. But why aren't there,I don't know, protests, demonstrations against this. Has everybody accepted their fate and is waiting to be blown up? How can people live in a country that doesn't make that does not make an all out effort to protect the lives of its citizens?"

First I want to thank him for his concern to Israel and for e-mailing me. I wish there was an easy solution to the current situation, unfortunately there isn't. There are so many aspects to be considered before a simple action can be made. Israel is under tremendous international pressure, even from our closest friend. As Israel is a tiny country that will not manage without normal relations with the rest of the world we have to "mellow" our policies.

And why would one expect Israel to do as it wants if the only world superpower finds it very difficult to pursue the war it declared against terror? And I'm not even talking about Iraq, I mean dealing with the Saudis. Its a known fact that the number one contributor to Islamic terror organizations (including Al Qaeda) is Saudi Arabia. So if the US suffered the September 11th attacks and a few month later welcomes the Saudi crown prince like he is a righteous - well what can I say?

BODY: Flippin' out?

I'm afraid some people in Israel are losing it. According to Maa'riv there is an illegal gambling going on about where is the next terror attack will happen. There are different odds for different areas. A terror attack on the Azrieli skyscrapers will earn the gambler 1500 times his bet and in Eilat times 1700. the more usual places like Jerusalem earn the gambler only 150 times his bet. The minimum bet is 10 shekels (two dollars) and there are strict definitions about the rules and about what will be considered as a terror attack.

BODY: Pathetic

The Syrians recently launched a daily TV news broadcast in Hebrew. They showed short segments from it on Israeli new. I find it very funny that the Syrians actually think anyone will watch it in Israel. The program itself looks like an 80' production - pathetic. The only ones that do watch this broadcast in Israel are TV comedy shows that use it as an excellent place to get new funny material

An excellent comment on the new TV broadcast came surprisingly from exiled Syrians in Europe. In their web site the exiles advised the Syrian government to start telling the truth in Arabic first before they continue to spread their lies in Hebrew.

BODY: News flash: Fruitful talks in Bloggers summit held in Jerusalem

Sorry for not posting yesterday, I had a busy day in University and then I was off from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem to attend the Bloggers summit.

Participated in the meeting the Israeli Bloggers from: Tal G. in Jerusalem, Where's home? and myself. And directly from the US of A the Bloggers from: Life After Cal and The Puddle.

It was nice to see the faces behind the blogs and the e-mails. We discussed the situation in Israel, Blogging stuff and about the real life outside the blogsphere.

It was also nice to be back in Jerusalem (I have to admit that it's been a while since the last time I was in Jerusalem).

I can sum it up by saying that we all enjoyed the meeting. If any of you Bloggers come to Israel drop me a line, we can meet.

BODY: Bush doesn't rule out Arafat's expulsion

I watched Sharon and Bush talk with reporters after they have met in the white house (for the sixth time now). There was nothing exciting, they both said what we've heard a million time before.

There was one thing though that pleased me. An Israeli reporter asked bush for his reaction if Israel will expel Arafat after the next terror attack will happen. Bush avoided from giving a straight answer, instead he mumbled something about Arafat not being the issue and that the issue is the Palestinian people. Then he continued to the usual: "I am disappointed that he (Arafat) has not led in such a way that the Palestinian people have hope and confidence".

Bush didn't say he opposes Arafat's expulsion, he is left this issue wide open, he didn't shut the door on that option. If he would have said that he objects to that there was no way Israel will expel Arafat. But he didn't object, at least not publicly, that is a step forward towards Arafat's expulsion.

BODY: Israel - a front line outpost

AP: "Lou Dobbs, host of the nightly CNN business show "Moneyline," said on the air Wednesday that he is abandoning the phrase "war on terror" in favor of the more specific "war on Islamists." He said the enemy is not terror, but radical Islamists who argue that non-believers should be killed."

Thank god that someone in CNN had the balls to say what is so FUCKING obvious!!! "war on terror" - come on - this hypocrisy is driving me crazy. Who are those terrorists and what guides them? They are Muslims driven by a fanatic believe in Islam!!! They say it in full mouth themselves but oh... It is not politically correct to say that, don't those guys in Al - Qaeda know it? I'm surprised! In Western silly standards you just can't say that. I demand that a letter will be send immediately to Mr. Bin Laden to protest that, you are not politically correct Mr. Bin Laden - Shame on you!

When America got punched in the face that miserable day I thought that the West will come to its senses - I'm sad to say it didn't happen. what else needs to happen before it will be clear that this is war on Islamists, cut the crap already!!!

In this war Israel is the most remote and attacked outpost right in the middle of this fanatic Muslim empire. But instead of getting full an unconditioned support from the Western civilization, Israel is being asked from the West to do more and more concessions towards the Muslims.

And not only that Israel is the most remote outpost of sanity, it is also the only state in the entire world that sees eye to eye with America on this war - and yet we get this lectures from everybody.

(I'm sorry for my foul language in this post, I just couldn't help it I'm so mad!)

BODY: Arafat's expulsion

A few days ago Israel reentered Arafat's compound in Ramallah and demolished a few buildings. According to Ze'ev Schiff (one of the top commentators in Israel) the initial plan was to destroy the all compound.

Schiff has this to say about the operation: "More than being a message to Arafat, the operation was a diplomatic message to Washington that this is the final step before Arafat's expulsion. Some suggest to Sharon that he put it to Bush that if the United States does not cut off its relations with Arafat, Israel will have no choice but to expel him if terrorist attacks continue."
